I typically get a pound of coffee beans and have the store grind them to the consistency that I need for my machine.  The problem is I only make about 1-2 12oz cup of coffee a day so going through the lb coffee takes a while.  After about two weeks, the grinds are no longer as fresh and definitely don't have a strong coffee smell.

The canister arrived in a brown box with no wording on the outside.  When I opened the box I noticed the canister was wrapped by a thin layer of bubble wrap.  The canister also took up the entire inside of the box.  There's no extra space for anything extra in the box.

SGCoffee made the canister out of stainless steel that felt pretty high quality.  It didn't look like it would get banged up if I accidentally drop this.  Because it's stainless steel, it definitely has a heft to it before the coffee grounds are added to it.

On the top of the canister is a date dial.  The dial is used to keep track of when you brought the coffee so you can always know how fresh the beans/grounds are.  The company was also nice enough to include a free stainless steel scoop that was placed inside the canister.  The scoop is actually very nice and essentially measures 1/8 cup of grounds.

So after I bring back a bag of freshly grind-ed coffee beans, I would pour the entire lb of grounds into the canister.  Keep in mind that the canister holds 1LB of coffee grounds with a bit of space left.  It has enough space that you can even leave the scoop in there.  But for me I keep my measuring scoop separate so I only have the grounds in there.

Now I don't open up the canister every day for a scoop of grounds for my coffee.  Instead I only open the canister every 3 days or so and scoop out what I need till the next time I open the canister.  This way it helps insure that my coffee grounds stays as fresh as possible over a long period of time.

Overall, I definitely do notice the coffee smell from my grounds last much longer after I started keeping them inside this airtight canister.  I love that this is so well made and that I don't have to worry about trying to rush and drink through my grounded coffee.
